Abstract


Abstract : The fundamental problem in the study of this classroom action researchis : how is
the improvement of studentsâ?? achievementin understanding natural appearance at sixth grade
students of SD Negeri 3 Sumbergedong through discussion? .The objectives of the research is
to improve learning achievement in understanding the natural apearance in sixth grade
students of SD Negeri 3 Sumbergedong through discussion. The research was conducted in
two cycles;each cycle was conducted in two meetings. Each cycle consisted of 1) planning, 2)
implementation, 3) observation, 4) reflection. Application of the method of discussion in the
classroom can improve learning achievement social studies subject matter particularly natural
appearance. This method was applied by forming small groups in the classroom as desired
student. This method was efective to arouse the interest of student learning in the classroom.
This is evidenced by the increase in student learning outcomes from pre-cycle to the second
cycle, while the increase from pre-cycle, the first cycle and the second was 42% and 86%. The
conclusion of this study is discussion method can improve learning achievement in
understanding the natural appearance at sixth grade students of SD Negeri 3 Sumbergedong.
