Abstract


This article aims to illustrate the importance of positive discipline methods in primary schools to foster non-violent character education of children. Based on the results of the literature study, violence has negative impacts on children causing their lessons to be disrupted, they are out of school, adopting violent behavior and even affecting mental health. Through a positive discipline teaching method provides an alternative to teachers and educators to implement non-violent education. Positive Discipline provides alternatives and strategies that can be considered by educators in the daily tasks with children. With the K13 level elementary school incentive to carry out character education in which there is also a character education discipline. With the application of a positive discipline method of disciplining children without punishment and violence can provide guidance on character education of elementary school children. Teachers can apply discipline to children by reinforcing positive behaviors, so the child can be responsible for his own behavior without feeling compelled
